Good Country Physio offer sports screening assessments for athletes. These screenings are performed by our sports physiotherapists and are specifically designed for the demands of each sport. We can screen athletes competing in a variety of sports, such as football, netball, soccer, swimming, basketball, hockey, athletics, BMX, tennis and cycling. The screening sessions are suitable for athletes of all ages.
The screening process includes a discussion about the athletes’ current training load (across all their sports/activities), their recovery principles, previous injuries and any current injuries or concerns, as well as their goals. The physiotherapist will then assess the athlete’s posture, strength, endurance, function, balance and other sport specific tests.
Sports screening is an important tool for injury prevention and improving performance. Screening helps to identify any areas of muscle weakness, reduced control or muscle tightness which may lead to injury or pain. Addressing these areas may help an athlete to move more efficiently and perform better in their chosen sport.

What exactly is involved:
Initial screening with a Sports Physiotherapist which takes approximately one hour (including physical screening tests specific to your sport)
Questionnaire to gather information about the athletes past injury history, training load, goals etc
From the screening assessment, a management plan will be developed to address specific identified issues
The management plan may include load management recommendations, specific exercises or other considerations to improve your performance
Reassessment in approximately 6 months (testing and questionnaire) to evaluate effectiveness of screening
Call any of our clinics if you would like to know more information or to book your screening assessment.
