Regular physical activity is one of the most effective ways to prevent and manage chronic heart disease, but finding the right exercise options can be a challenge. That’s why we have put together this guide as part of our health promotion project at Good Country Physiotherapy.
This blog provides a list of exercise opportunities in Naracoorte, categorised into: - Free Exercise – Walking groups, parkruns, and other accessible activities. - Supervised Classes – Group sessions led by trained professionals. - Community Sport – Local teams and clubs to help you stay active and connected.
By making this information easily available, we hope to encourage more people to get moving, improve heart health, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. No matter your fitness level, there’s something for everyone!

Naracoorte Free Exercise Available:
WEDNESDAY AM WALK
Day: Every Wednesday
Time: 9am
Place: Sound Shell in Naracoorte Town Square
Details: 45-minute walk with group around Naracoorte, each week a different walking trail for a change of scenery!

WEDNESDAY PM DOG WALK
Day: Wednesday night during daylight savings time
Time: 5:45pm
Place: Starting location is always at Rural Vet Service clinic at 85 Gordon Street
Details: 30-45 minute walk depending on weather. Any age or ability is welcome and usually have around 10-15 walkers with the heat cut off at 33 degrees. Bring your own dog or the clinic has dogs available to be walked from elderly clients who are unable to walk their pets.

THURSDAY AM WALK
Day: Every Thursday
Time: 9:30am

SATURDAY AM PARKRUN

Day: Saturday
Time: 8am
Place: Starts at the right side of the Naracoorte swimming lake
Details: Fun, free event organised by volunteers for the benefit of everyone. The course is 5km long and covers a mixture of tarmac paths and gravel paths. Please register before you first come. More information and registration can be found on the link below or on Facebook.

WALKING TRAILS AVAILABLE
There are a range of walking trails throughout Naracoorte, from the 30-minute walk through the native bushland of the Naracoorte Nature Park, to the 14.7km long Naracoorte Caves Trail which connects the town of Naracoorte with the world-renowned Caves.

Place: Moore St, Naracoorte
Details: Open from late November until 31 March, man made lake with concrete floor and walls with chlorinated water that ranges from 1m to 2m depth in the middle of the lake. Lap swimming and fenced areas for children.

Place: Naracoorte Caves Range Area
Details: First walk complementary if you'd like to come and try, or like more information, message Natasha 0408086792. Walks explore Naracoorte Caves and the Caves Range Forest. Pack a raincoat as you walk in all weather!

Details: All the best of the gym exercises plus some added instructor inspiration. Many different fitness levels are welcome and always choices to pick from. A strength and conditioning class made to build a body for better days ahead.
Spin Bike Classes:

Details: Come to make your heart bullet proof and your mind strong. Push beyond your own beliefs of how hard you can work and gain the extra advantage on your peers.
Boxing for Fitness Class:
Day(s)/Time(s): Wednesday 6am
Details: Boxing combos that challenge you and your pad holding partner. Great for a release of endorphins and feeling the impact of throwing a punch. A class sets your day up for happiness and a calmer mind.
Strength, Core and Fall Prevention Classes for the Older Population:
Day(s)/Time(s): Tuesday and Thursday 9-10am and 10-11am
Details: All exercises are given a set time frame, so all participants are in sync with each other. A fun class for a laugh and fully observed by an instructor for safety. Work on yourself for an hour and then go enjoy a team chat over a coffee.
Fat Farmers Class:
Day(s)/Time(s): Friday 6.15am
Details: A class where those who had a competitive spirit comes back out to play. Team up with individuals who might avoid the gym more often than not, but now seek to gain more of an edge and motivation. You may be a work hard minded person, but also realise work can wait just a little longer for today.
SESH GYM

Details: Functional Group Training Facility that brings inspiration from CrossFit, Functional Body Building and HIIT workouts in a group exercise setting.
