In 2010, three farmers near Maitland South Australia took a positive step towards improving their health by signing up to their local gym. Fast forward 12 years and Fat Farmers is now a well-established, state-wide initiative to inspire and encourage farmers to improve their health and wellbeing through physical activity.
There are groups all over the state with a volunteer Team Coordinator who facilitates the running of the group. Every group has it’s own unique way of exercising that is available to that community, whether that be attending a local gym, going for a walk or joining alongside the local Park Run.
Each year they gather for the City to Bay which is their big event for the year with all their teams together and anyone else who would like to be a part of the fun.
Currently there is an opportunity in the South East for a group. If you would like to help your community of farmers become more active, then contact the Fat Farmers Executive Officer, Tessa Colliver on 0419 824 122.
